Kimberly Jones

Supervisor

Kimberly Jones has served on the Maine Township Board since July of 2014. She is a longtime resident of Park Ridge and a former 3rd Ward Alderman for the City of Park Ridge (2005-2007). She also served on the city’s Flood Control Task Force from 2009-2013.

The focus of Kimberly’s adult life has been public service. For the past 31 years, Kim has been working as a public servant for the State of Illinois. Trustee Jones’ current position is as an Administrator for the Division of Banking where she is responsible for all licensing, investigations, and regulatory issues as they relate to the Pawnbroker industry.

While serving on the Park Ridge City Council, Kim Jones was Chairman of the Public Works Committee, and also served as a member of the Mayor’s Advisory Committee, the Public Safety Committee and as the Liaison to the Park Ridge Youth Commission.

Kim has continued to fight to restore leadership, order, and ethics to Township government.

Peter Gialamas

Clerk

As a resident of Maine Township for over 45 years, Clerk Gialamas has a long history of civic involvement.

Prior to being elected as Maine Township Clerk in 2017, Peter Gialamas served for two terms as Trustee on the Maine Township Board. Prior to that, he served as Collector from October of 2007 through May of 2009. Prior to Township service, Pete served as a commissioner on the Zoning Board of Appeals for the City of Des Plaines from 2003 through 2008 where he participated in the ongoing development of the city. Clerk Gialamas is the broker-owner of Century 21 Langos and Christian and has been a realtor since 1994. He has won numerous awards for production and quality service.

As Clerk, Peter has continued to provide outstanding service to Maine Township residents and advocate for transparency and fiscal responsibility.

Susan Moylan Krey

Assessor

Susan Moylan Krey has served as Township Assessor since 2014. She has a long history of public service in the Township.

First elected as Township Collector in 2005, Moylan Krey was then appointed as Trustee in 2007 and was elected as Trustee in 2009 and 2013. Susan was then was appointed Township Assessor in 2014 and won re-election in 2017 and 2021.

Susan was appointed to the Des Plaines Library Board as Trustee in 2009 and served through 2013 including three years as Vice President. She also served as a Commissioner on the Illinois Civil Service Commission since 2012. Assessor Moylan Krey chaired the Township’s Award-winning National Night Out Against Crime from 2005 through 2013. She also headed up the Neighborhood Watch program from 2005 through 2014.

As Assessor, Susan Moylan Krey has continued to be a strong watchdog against rising property taxes and provide outstanding community service to residents.

Ed Beauvais

Highway Commissioner

Ed Beauvais is a lifelong Maine Township and Des Plaines resident. From 1999-2009, Ed worked at the Maine Township Highway department where he worked to better our local community including improving roadway/sewer conditions and quality of life for residents. From 2009-2015 he served as Maine Township Code Enforcement Officer and Program Coordinator where he gained priceless experience in property maintenance and code compliance. As the current Municipal Inspector for the Village of Wheeling, Ed is very familiar with building, developing, planning and zoning practices and has frontline firsthand experience with our critical infrastructure. He also has over 4 years’ experience in managing budgetary line items.

Mr. Beauvais has vast volunteer service within the local community including being a flood cleanup volunteer. As a past Maine Township representative, Ed helped to create the Future Leaders/Big Brothers Big Sisters program in collaboration with the Des Plaines Youth Commission and the Des Plaines Park District. Ed Beauvais has also participated in Maine Township Youth Mentoring, the Park Ridge/Des Plaines Peer Jury Partnership, and has served as a Liaison to the neighborhood watch in partnership with The Cook County Sheriff’s Department and the North Maine Fire Department.

As Highway Commissioner, Ed has worked hard toward obtaining additional grant funding to assist flood-prone areas in Maine Township, labor to ease congested street parking on neighborhood streets, improve road infrastructure, and raise the quality of life with beautification projects. Ed understands firsthand that experience is necessary to providing dynamic public service. As Highway Commissioner, Ed uses his versatile experience in local government to enhance the quality of life for all Maine Township residents.

Kelly Horvath

Trustee

Kelly Horvath is a small business owner, community organizer/activist, and former high school teacher. She has served on the strategic planning committees of both the Des Plaines Public Library as well as the Science and Arts Academy in Des Plaines. Additionally, Kelly has also served on the school’s Fine Arts Committee, Technology Task Force, as fundraising co-chair, and as a Navigators USA Scout Leader.

Kelly has worked in recent years to increase community engagement in local politics and voter turnout through founding the group Des Plaines Forward. Ms. Horvath is also a member of SPEAK Des Plaines, and Des Plaines Families Against Racism, both local activist groups. Kelly also successfully spearheaded the change to a Des Plaines City ordinance in favor of allowing backyard hens for families.

As a mother of two, Kelly understands the importance of Maine Township resources for families, particularly when so many have been impacted by COVID-19. At a time when many are struggling to pay the bills, there is also responsibility for elected officials to be fiscally prudent. One of Kelly’s goals has been to increase the visibility in the community of the many resources offered by Maine Township.

James Maher

Trustee

James Maher is a fourth-generation attorney, and a life-long resident of Cook County, Illinois. Mr. Maher lives in Niles. He is a self-employed litigation attorney with substantial experience in a very wide variety of contested legal matters, criminal, civil and appellate.

James is a graduate of Loyola Academy High School in Wilmette, Illinois; College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts; and, John Marshall Law School in Chicago.

As Trustee, James has been a fiscal watchdog for taxpayers and will concentrate on rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse at the township while still maintaining advocacy for the critical human services Township residents rely on.

Asif Malik

Trustee

Asif Malik is a community leader in the south Asian community in Maine Township. He understands the need in Township government for cultural competency, diversity, and civic engagement.

Asif believes that Maine Township should be reflective and representative of the communities they serve, especially often under looked communities like the unincorporated areas of the Township.

As an immigrant, Asif understands the value of opportunity and brings an array of skills to the Township board including finance, budgeting, planning and community engagement.

Asif Malik holds degrees in Science and Agricultural Management. He currently serves as Traffic Manager for the Cook County Circuit Court.

Elizabeth Lynch 

Trustee

Elizabeth Lynch is a librarian and a community organizer. 

She first got involved in the community as a leader of the Save Niles Library movement. Advocating for the library's essential services, she spoke out against ethical violations, organized library users, and kept the public informed. The skills and relationships she built through this work led to the founding of Niles United, a group committed to building greater community engagement and social awareness in Niles. She is a regular volunteer for the Niles-Maine District Library, the Village of Niles, local food pantries, Niles Pride, and Bike Walk Niles. 

Elizabeth has a long history of advocacy for ethical governance and public services in her career as a librarian. She is known for forming strong and sustainable partnerships across the private and public sectors to deliver more accessible services to the community, especially in areas of food insecurity and mental health. She served two years as Chair of the Illinois Library Association's Intellectual Freedom Committee, defending libraries against censorship and educating stakeholders on the role of libraries in protecting our free speech rights. 

As a librarian and volunteer, Elizabeth has firsthand experience helping those in need navigate the network of social services. She understands both personally and professionally the essential role the Township plays in the community. As a trustee, Elizabeth is committed to serving the people in our community that rely on the Township's many public programs.
