Food Pantry Assistant

Maine Township is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and energetic individual to join our team as a Part-Time Food Pantry Assistant. This position plays a vital role in helping provide food and personal care items to residents in need while supporting daily pantry operations.

Position Details

  • Job Title: Food Pantry Assistant
  • Status: Part-Time (up to 19 hours per week) Hourly Position, 4-3 hours shifts Monday to Friday
  • Reports to: Food Pantry Director
  • Pay Range: $19– $22 per hour
  • Benefits: PTO
Responsibilities

The Food Pantry Assistant will:

  • Assist with distributing food and personal care items to pantry clients.
  • Provide friendly and respectful service to community members, volunteers, donors, and staff.
  • Pick up food and other donations from local businesses, organizations, and community partners.
  • Load, unload, sort, and organize food donations and pantry supplies.
  • Stock shelves and maintain inventory throughout the pantry.
  • Receive and process incoming donations.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized pantry environment.
  • Enter and maintain basic client and inventory information using Microsoft Office programs.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
  • Assist with food drives, special events, and other pantry-related projects as assigned.
Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Valid Illinois driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and treating all clients with dignity and respect.
Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday.
  • Ability to safely load and unload food and donations.
Computer Skills

  • Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, Outlook
