Food Pantry Assistant
Maine Township is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and energetic individual to join our team as a Part-Time Food Pantry Assistant. This position plays a vital role in helping provide food and personal care items to residents in need while supporting daily pantry operations.
Position Details
- Job Title: Food Pantry Assistant
- Status: Part-Time (up to 19 hours per week) Hourly Position, 4-3 hours shifts Monday to Friday
- Reports to: Food Pantry Director
- Pay Range: $19– $22 per hour
- Benefits: PTO
The Food Pantry Assistant will:
- Assist with distributing food and personal care items to pantry clients.
- Provide friendly and respectful service to community members, volunteers, donors, and staff.
- Pick up food and other donations from local businesses, organizations, and community partners.
- Load, unload, sort, and organize food donations and pantry supplies.
- Stock shelves and maintain inventory throughout the pantry.
- Receive and process incoming donations.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized pantry environment.
- Enter and maintain basic client and inventory information using Microsoft Office programs.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
- Assist with food drives, special events, and other pantry-related projects as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Valid Illinois driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and treating all clients with dignity and respect.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday.
- Ability to safely load and unload food and donations.
- Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, Outlook
