Cook County Homeowner Relief Fund – Apply by October 10
Maine Township homeowners may be eligible for property tax relief through the Cook County Homeowner Relief Fund. This program offers a one-time $1,000 payment to qualifying households.
Funds are limited, so interested homeowners are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. The application deadline is October 10, 2025.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the $1,000 property tax relief payment, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- Significant property tax increase – Your property tax bill must have increased by at least 50% in one of the following years: 2021, 2022, or 2023.
- Income requirement – Your household income must be at or below 100% of the Cook County Area Median Income (AMI) for your household size. View income guidelines here (https://www.cookcountyil.gov/service/cook-county-homeowner-relief-fund).
- Primary residence – The property must be your primary home.
Application Process
The application process will be conducted in two phases:
- Phase 1 (Initial Screening): Applicants provide basic personal and demographic information. All applications will be entered into a lottery for possible advancement to Phase 2.
- Phase 2 (Document Submission): If selected to advance, applicants will be required to submit documents verifying eligibility. A successful submission will then move to the final lottery for selection.
