Press Release: Maine Township Receives $1M in New State Grants for Food Pantry, Infrastructure and Capital Improvements
last year, together totaling $1,670,000 in allocated state capital funding over the last three
years for Highway Infrastructure, Addiction Recovery and Capital Costs.
PARK RIDGE, Ill. – As part of the recent signing of the Illinois budget by Governor Pritzker,
Maine Township is set to receive new state funding to help off-set the cost and build-out of
a brand-new food pantry building recently approved in April at the Annual Town Meeting.
The property located at 9850 Milwaukee Ave was officially purchased for $1Million on July
10th, 2026. The new dual $500,000 grants totaling $1 Million will help with direct and
indirect costs for the new location’s acquisition, development and maintenance costs.
“We are so grateful to Senator Laura Murphy and State Representative Justin Cochran for
their continued advocacy for the needs of Maine Township by securing funding for these
initiatives,” Supervisor Kim Jones said. “Our Township and the evolving needs of residents
continue to grow and expand. Securing this funding for the new state-of-the-art Food
Pantry will go a very long way to continue meeting and exceeding these needs,” Jones said.
In addition, re-allocation amounts totaling $670,000 for new flooring throughout the
Township Hall, aid in addiction recovery for residents and investment in public
infrastructure throughout the community was included in the budget’s passage.
With the signing of HB 111, the Township will begin working with the various awarding
agencies to execute grant agreements and access the funding at the appropriate time
deemed by the Governor’s Office of Management and Budget.
