The EMSD63 Family Resource Center is centrally located on Ballard, between Dee Road and Greenwood Avenue in Des Plaines, IL. It houses the Expanded Learning program that provides quality childcare for school-aged youth (grades K-8) before school, after school, on Early Dismissal Days, School’s Out Days, and school breaks. It houses the Expanded Learning program that provides quality childcare for school-aged youth (grades K-8) before school, after school, on Early Dismissal Days, School’s Out Days, and school breaks. Expanded Learning offers Summer Camp Academy, which is a quality full-day program that operates the full 10-weeks of summer at EMSD63. Expanded Learning programs are offered to families on a sliding scale, offers scholarship to those eligible, and accepts CCAP childcare assistance.Expanded Learning offers a yearly Winter Basketball League for youth in grades 5-8 and an Open Gym program for youth in grades 5-12. Though programs were halted due to COVID, as restrictions lift we foresee many of our programs returning in the 2021|2022 school year.
The Family Resource Center offers Community ED | Adult & Family Education. This is a series of classes and workshops that engage the whole family. Classes and/or workshops are offered in parenting, English classes, workshops on financial literacy, yoga, mindfulness, and the list continues to grow year to year. All Community ED classes and workshops are free and many offer childcare at no cost when in-person classes are offered. Many classes & workshops will be offered in the 2021|2022 school year with both remote and in-person options.
