Office Manager – General Assistance
Salary Range: $45,100–$50,000

Position Summary
The General Assistance Department is seeking a highly organized, customer-focused Office Manager to serve as the primary point of contact for the public and provide essential administrative support to department staff. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping others, multitasking, and keeping an office running smoothly.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Schedule and manage appointments for General Assistance and other programs
- Screen and respond to phone calls and emails in a professional, courteous manner
- Provide preliminary information regarding Public Aid/General Assistance, Senior Information, and Disabled Assistance programs
- Distribute and clearly explain applications prior to scheduling appointments
- Order office supplies and maintain inventory of frequently used forms
- Process incoming and outgoing mail
- Perform copying, printing, and general clerical duties
- Maintain organized files and records
- Learn and provide referrals to external community resources as needed
- Perform other related duties as assigned

- Strong multitasking and organizational abilities
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Working knowledge of General Assistance programs (or ability to learn quickly)
- Proficient typing and computer skills
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Prior experience as an Office Manager or in a similar administrative role preferred
- Proficiency in a second language is a plus
Computer Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Comfortable using Google Calendar and maintaining organized scheduling systems
