Property Tax Exemption Applications Expected to Be Mailed at the End of March
Once exemption applications are released by the Cook County Assessor, the Maine Township Assessor’s Office will be ready to assist all residents with the application process.
Senior Exemption
The Senior Exemption is available to homeowners who were born in 1960 or earlier and owner-occupy their home as their primary residence during the 2025 tax year.
Low-Income Senior Freeze Exemption
The Low-Income Senior Freeze Exemption must be applied for each year. You may qualify if you:
- Were born in 1960 or earlier,
- Occupied the home as your primary residence for two consecutive January 1 dates, and
- Have a total household income of less than $65,000 in the 2024 calendar year.
If you received this exemption on the 2024 property tax bill, a renewal application will be mailed directly to your home. If you skipped a year, recently met the income requirement, or just turned 65, the Maine Township Assessor’s Office is available to help you complete a new application.
Low-Income Senior Freeze – Income Limit Changes

Tax Year 2027 (paid in 2028): $77,000
